Bulk Carrier
Bulk carriers are the giant transporters of maritime logistics, hauling massive quantities of grain, coal, ore, and steel across the globe. Unlike container ships, bulk carriers are designed with vast open holds where cargo is poured directly inside.

A Corbita (Roman grain ship 2000 years ago) was around 30 meters long and could carry roughly over 200 tons of cargo. Loading a Roman grain ship was slow, done by hand, carrying each sack and stacking them under the deck taking days.
Now, compare that to a modern bulk carrier, stretching over 300 meters and most ships can carry between 200 and 300 thousands tons of cargo. Powerful cranes and conveyor systems can load a bulk carrier in just a few hours.
